January 1, 2026: California passed Assembly Bill No. 1263 in late 2025 and is now in effect.
The legislation will affect California firearm owners in multiple ways, the law is comprehensive and vague. Of notice is amendments to Title 20, Section 3273.51. The legislation applies to all orders received in California after Jan. 1, 2026. The legislation requires firearm accessory and part manufacturers to verify age and shipping address for all California destined orders that include "firearm tools, parts, or part sets". The changes would require all orders that include affected parts to go through additional processing at the time of purchase on our website. All RailScales orders to California are unfortunaetly subject to the new changes. RailScales will continue to supply Califorina customers with products with as few process changes as possible.
These changes only apply to orders shipping INTO California, regardless of where it is placed from. These changes do not apply to orders placed FROM California that are shipping out of the state.
Our new California order process will consist of the following.
- A line item will be added to the order confirming that you understand and have read the California law, which is hyperlinked on our site.
- A line item will be added to the order stating purchaser has sent a State ID in verifying the purchaser is 18 or older.
- Will only ship the order to the address on the purchasers driver’s license, so ensure addresss accuracy.
- A signature confirmation shipping service will be added to your selected shipping option. A small "Handling Fee" will be added to all California orders to cover the signatue service. RailScales will still offer Free Shipping on all California orders, the Fee is only to cover the signature service.
- The packing slip on the order will show the above information within the shipment, retain for your records. It is NOT accessible on our website portal, and will not display upon checkout. The packing slip can be provided per request 7 days after package is delivered by emailing sales@railscales.us.
RailScales handles your personal information with care. California’s Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) considers your state ID as sensitive personal information. RailScales will not and can not store your license, so a copy must be emailed to sales@railscales.us with your order number in the subject line on each and every order.
