Americans collectively own somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 million firearms ranging from registered antiques to modern, high-powered rifles, pistols, and assault-style weapons, including the AR-15. Of these 300 million firearms, the reliable, trusted, and effective AR-15 style rifle makes up somewhere between .25 and .35% of all firearms owned in the United States.
It might not sound like much on the surface, but that clocks in at between five and 10 million AR-style rifles, and that explains why there are so many options when it comes to foregrip accessories.
Finding The Best AR Foregrip
Hundreds of companies producing dozens of models each can make finding the right rail grip for you seem daunting, and without a little leg work on the front end of your purchase, you may find yourself hunting for a new accessory sooner than you planned.
We’ve all fired a friend or family member’s rifle after they installed new hardware they were in love with and thought, “That’s okay — I guess.” There is no such thing as the perfect foregrip, however, ask enough shooting professionals, enthusiasts, and shop owners, and you begin to hear some of the same names come up time and time again.
In today’s blog from the aiming accessories crew at RailScales®, we’ll take a look at five of the most popular and trusted sets of foregrips on the market. We hope you find the information helpful when making your purchase.
To add additional control and a beautiful aesthetic to your firearm that also provides unparalleled heat shielding and a vibration-free fit, shop online at RailScales® today.
RSB
The RSB from RailScales should be on your short term list for grips to try. The RSB is made from 6061 aluminum and comes in two anodized colors of Carbon Black and Tera Bronze. The RSB is one of RailScales most sought after items when they restock and quickly sells out due to the demand. Form fitting to be comfortable and light weight in hand and on the rifle itself. And if the RSB is something that you do in fact need and don't want to be stuck with just two anodized colors, you can take a look at the polymer version.
RSBM-P
The RSBM-P is the polymer version of the RSB and RSBM which keeps the same foot print of its aluminum brother and adds more color options and saves you a bit in the pocket book. Either of these options will never do you wrong and always look good doing it.
Anchor
The Anchor from RailScales is a multi-angled grip that allows the end user to get a 70 degree angle or a 90 angle for better comfort or use. The Anchor was designed to better help a user get good hand placement for their rifle grip and laser at the same time. Keeping this in mind will help you decide if going from the RSB to the Anchor is the best option. Without the laser unit, the Anchor is a great angled grip that has a nice tactile feel and sleek construction.
LDAG
The LDAG is in the same class as the Anchor and has very similar utility. Our 1913 Picatinny rail vertical foregrip with the lowest mounting footprint and lighter weight than most poly forend grips on the market. The ultra low mounting system doesn't over hang the rail like most Picatinny accessories, eliminating pinch points. Originally designed for a foreign defense contract, we never intended to release the LDAG® to the public. After the few of these Picatinny forend grips that were sold domestically took off, it became one of the most in demand products offered at RailScales.
Karve
The Karve from RailScales is it's flagship handstop grip and is much smaller than the previously listed grips. For the sake of utility, it can be reversed to offer a push or pull configuration on grip. The Karve can also be stacked with other RailScales control products to provide both a vertical forward grip as well as a hand stop to prevent the non-shooting hand from reaching the muzzle. The Karve is made from 6061 and comes with 2 options for colors as discussed above. The Karve gives the end user a good indexing point of reference for grip and is comfortable enough to not be just a pointed object hanging off the rail like some hand stops on the market. The Karve-P is the polymer version of the aluminum Karve.
